World Therapeutic Horticulture Day

18th May was World Therapeutic Horticulture Day!

• A day to celebrate the power gardening activities have for our health & wellbeing.

• A chance to reflect and be proud of the work that we do within this field & the impact we can have on people's lives.

• An opportunity to shout it from the rooftops that we are passionate about what we do here at Parklea, but also for being part of a much bigger thing!

You all know that we grow plants. But we grow people too.

We help people gain confidence, skills & purpose. We see friendships form and peer groups develop. We reduce social isolation & help create a sense of belonging.

This isn't just for clients. We hear it from our volunteers too. Here are 2 quotes that sum up the power of Therapeutic Horticulture that are a direct result of getting dirt under your fingernails in a supportive environment!

"My time at Parklea is my therapy. I can feel my shoulders drop as soon as I walk in the gates" [PBO volunteer]

"Parklea is a wonderful place of kindness, understanding & creativity. Parklea I love you. Thank you, you have changed my life" [PBO client]
